Am I seriously the only one who thinks the SS looks spectacular?

In silver, perhaps, I can understand, though I still think it looks great. BUT:

I have concerns for the sanity of anyone who's jaw hasn't dropped now.

They have a dark green that is lusty. I think it looks fan-bloody-tastic in its restraint.

I'm exposed to the Cup version of them daily, and I would love one for myself. It might be a little on the safe side, but it is still just subtly striking enough to make me want one bad.

This must be where we parted ways. They could have been more radical, but personally I like the subtle-aggressive look—The general attitude of the car reminds me of the 94-96 Impala.

Fair enough. I would have liked to see a little more aggression, and a little less subtlety. The E39 M5, to which the SS is often compared, is the embodiment of the styling I refer to.

I don't like the chrome wheels, the front bumper and the look of the bowtie on the front, as well as the faux belt holes on the front seats. Beyond that, I really like the looks - I just wish they'd done something closer to the HSV Senator Signature, which addresses basically all of my qualms with the SS' design.

I don't think they look bad, I just don't find them special. The newer Camaros (with the thinner grille), on the other hand, look stunning. Almost as good as the new 'Stang

It's actually grown on me. However, upon searching your "Metro Atlanta Chevy Dealers" inventory, it turns out there are none with a manual gearbox (I'd vastly prefer that over an automatic), and of the automatics, most of them are in black (Not my first choice).

These cars look fantastic in just about every color but silver. In silver they just look like Malibus with a little bit of trim. Chevy should've brought out some bright fun paint when they rolled these off the production line.

I'm with Matt Farah on this one, you've gotta black them out.

I wouldn't call it spectacular, and I wouldn't call it bland either.

It just looks like a nice, new, unassuming sedan. Something reasonable. Practical. Bought by a guy that doesn't take too many risks, yet is still successful in his career. Driven by somebody that doesn't need a German badge to show their worth.

.....but there's a completely unreasonable monster hiding underneath. This car has what the F&F / Brodozer crowd tries to advertise with their big wings and flashy paintjobs and 6"+ exhaust tips and truck nutz. I think the reactions to this car will be completely binary. You get it, or you don't. Most people will not get it.

It's the sedan equivalent of the V10 Touareg TDI.

The looks have grown on me but to me the looks will always be too close to the rest of the lineup (most notably Malibu & Impala).

Also - I think it costs too much —-> around $10k more than a v8 camaro or charger/challenger or mustang. I've posted about this before so I'll stop, not trying to hijack.

Looks like a Malibu. I work next to a Chevy dealership with several Malibu and SSes, and I consider myself to have a very good automotive visual vocabulary, so to speak, and I typically confuse them, up close and from a distance. The Malibu looks more aggressive, but still boring.

That's how a true muscle car should look. It doesn't need to look tough, because it is. Let me show you my reasoning.

This is just a plain Chevelle sedan. In it's day it would have been quite average.

And here is the muscle car the Chevelle SS of the same year. Very little has changed visually. A few badges to show that it was an SS as well as a special hood and that was pretty much it. The majority of the changes were underneath. To prove my point further, one more image.

This is a Malibu in the same body style as the previous SS (two door hard top). Now you can see really just how little has changed. These were/are great looking cars, but as you can see a muscle car does not need to be flamboyant at all.

In short Holden/Chevrolet did it right.

When I sit on my computer looking at cars, for the most part, I am looking at ferraris mclarens bentleys and lambos (really anything that can only dream of owning), So when I finally saw the look of the new average everyday sedans and coupes (honda toyota chevy and fords) I was blown away by the styling, I think they all look fantastic.

I agree with some people that the ss looks a lot like the malibu, but for me thats ok because I think the malibu looks great. I am most certainly in agreement with you about the styling, I think it's gorgeous.

It is which is why I showed it. You had two trim levels of Chevelle (200 and 300 iirc) as well as the range topping Malibu. So three price points pretty much across the line.

Strategy for GM:

Call the Impala somthing else.

Introduce the ordinary Commodore as the Caprice.

Rename the SS as the Impala SS.

Build it in Oshawa (it's the same platform as the current Camaro isn't it?) to keep the cost down.
